What is Houston Zoo?
The Houston Zoo is a 55-acre (22 ha) zoological park located within Hermann Park in Houston, Texas, United States. The zoo opened in 1922 as a park attraction housing 40 animals. In 2026 it housed around 4300 animals, and as of 2024 the collections included representatives of 575 species. The zoo had 2 million visitors in 2024.
